A thing for sheds

It probably comes as no surprise that I have a thing for sheds! My studio is a glorified shed, our allotment has two sheds and it seems that every home I've lived in has come with a shed, full of interesting oddities and vintage ephemera; old tins, plant labels, jars, rusty tools.  A happy weekend is one that takes me to a garden and a peelly painted shed to ogle at. After the summer holidays I had a file on my computer called 'Produce' that documented some of my peelly paint shed loving experiences around the UK! So it seemed fitting to take inspiration from garden sheds and the patina of, and objects there in, for a photo shoot for my range of vases. It has given me great pleasure to find a purpose for the old tins, postcards, boxes, and bits and bobs that fill up drawers and sit on shelves, and to create some product shots for my shop. There are nine vases in total. They sit together well in groups, along themes of Autumn or Spring....or those with birds....or those with cottages. I hope they make charming gifts...for yourself or loved ones.

Melbourne Festival 2014

Don't forget that I'll be at the Melbourne Festival this coming weekend 13th/14th September. It's a showcase of the best of Derbyshire's artists and makers and I'm proud to have been selected. I've got new originals, my limited edition prints, new vases and.....drum roll please....two tea-towel designs to launch exclusively at the festival (pictures soon!). There aren't many tea towels, so please form an orderly queue! I'll be at 16 Church Street and doors are open 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday. Be sure to bring the sunshine with you!

40 at 40!

40 at 40! In the run up to my fortieth birthday I have created a run of 40 vases featuring images from my original artworks. Each vase is a one off and numbered. I have 22 vases left available after my Winter Open Studio. I will upload the vases to an album on my facebook page at 8pm (GMT) on Sunday 1st December. Just write SOLD in the comment box of the vase you would like to buy, then send me a message with the number of the vase you have chosen. Payment will need to be made by Paypal.
