A thing for sheds

It probably comes as no surprise that I have a thing for sheds! My studio is a glorified shed, our allotment has two sheds and it seems that every home I've lived in has come with a shed, full of interesting oddities and vintage ephemera; old tins, plant labels, jars, rusty tools.  A happy weekend is one that takes me to a garden and a peelly painted shed to ogle at. After the summer holidays I had a file on my computer called 'Produce' that documented some of my peelly paint shed loving experiences around the UK! So it seemed fitting to take inspiration from garden sheds and the patina of, and objects there in, for a photo shoot for my range of vases. It has given me great pleasure to find a purpose for the old tins, postcards, boxes, and bits and bobs that fill up drawers and sit on shelves, and to create some product shots for my shop. There are nine vases in total. They sit together well in groups, along themes of Autumn or Spring....or those with birds....or those with cottages. I hope they make charming gifts...for yourself or loved ones.

They are back!

My decorative tiles are finally back in stock! The tiles feature a digital transfer print taken from my original artwork and fired on to a ceramic tile. I had great fun in the studio yesterday having a photo shoot. I now feel completely justified in my wombling around flea markets and junk shops acquiring bits and pieces of studio clutter - they all came in very handy for my vintage themed shoot. My favourite places for a rummage are Melton Mowbray flea market held every Tuesday in the cattle market and a recent discovery, London House in Shipston-on-Stour in the Cotswolds. I don't like my junk too neatly displayed, the thrill is in the hunt! And of course we are now in to car boot sale season which is where you can find me on a Sunday. In the photos you can see a vintage staple box from my Dad's office, part of an old camera found in the garden shed of my London flat, and a book called 'Nelly's Work' given to me by my Nana which gave its name to my first business, selling handmade greetings cards. Some of my most treasured items are in my studio and this ephemera keeps me connected to people and places that are no longer with me.

The charm of bunting!

I don't think my life would be complete without bunting!  A stalwart of all family birthday parties, and pulled out to adorn any adhoc den that might spring up on a rainy day.  So I was inspired to bring my creative stamp to the world of bunting and make some with vintage paper.  Great for parties or just for general bunting happiness anywhere........get yours here!
